Folklore Museum of Chalkis

The Folklore Museum of Chalkis was founded in 1981 by Evia Studies Company and the Municipality of Chalkis. It is housed in three halls of the historic castle Negroponte. It houses more than 1,200 artifacts, precious handmade objects and objects of daily life of past eras that no longer exist nowadays.

Museum of Sea Creatures “Nautilus”

When you enter the museum you will watch a ten-minute documentary that will take you back in time. The museum is painted in deep blue that will make you feel like you are in the sea. The welcoming guides will show you the thousands of exhibits and will explain things like how to cultivate pearls and where each fossil was found.

Museum of Petrified Mammals of Kerasia

In this museum you will find fossils from 6.5 million to 9 million years back. 24 different species (from felines to mammals) were found in Kerasia region in the last 50 years and their fossils are exhibited in this museum. Among the most intriguing are the hyenas, the three-toed horses but also animals resembling small giraffes. Also, you will see skeletons and bones of animals, fossils and photographs. This is a well-organized museum worth visiting.
